Early last month, Google released a new API that allowed users to query for publicly declared connections between people. They do this by picking up on Xhtml friends Network (XFN) and Friend of a Friend (FOAF) tags on the world wide web. This approach allows Google to index social graphs of evryday activity on the wider web.

The video below explains the general gist, here at SocioApps, we are looking at ways of integrating this into some of the Facebook and OpenSocial Applications we currently have under development. Look to this space for further updates!
